The Impact of A.I. on How Phone Scams Target Older Adults and Seniors

If you haven't heard of the A.I. takeover by now, you must be unplugged. Let me explain... A.I., or artificial intelligence, is sweeping the world. It can create art, compose music, and is even in development for self-driving cars. As A.I. rapidly advances, it brings forth numerous dangers, particularly for older adults and seniors.

One significant risk is the increasing complexity of phone scams. Scammers now use this technology to financially exploit older adults and seniors. It goes like this: A.I. is used to mimic their loved ones' voices in a phone call to make it seem like they are in danger and in need of money. The older adult or senior panics and wants to help. Money is gone within minutes and the scammer is onto the next victim.

Older adults and seniors that may be less tech savvy are the most vulnerable. However, there are solutions. Developing a unique safe word with your loved ones is one effective strategy, and always verifying a call by contacting the known and verified phone number is essential. As the world becomes more technologically advanced, these scams will only grow, making vigilance crucial.
